Diversity Abroad

Diversity Abroad Scholarship


The Diversity Abroad Scholarship is intended to assist underrepresented Concordians to experience one of the most exciting distictives of our university: Education Abroad.

To be eligible, students must:

  • Be planning to participate in an approved study or intern abroad experience.
  • Must be a minority student (this information is gathered from your FAFSA)
  • Have completed at least 1 semester of full-time study at Concordia University at the time of their application.
  • Have at least a 2.0 cumulative GPA and not be on Academic Probation.
  • Be in good standing with the Division of Student Life.
  • Have a completed FAFSA on file and have unmet financial need.
  • Complete this application accurately and timely, including a 250 word essay describing why you want to study abroad, and how it will benefit your education.


  • Undergraduates participating in a Global Ed. Course will be eligible for up to $1,000.
  • Graduates participating in a Global Ed. Course will be eligible for up to $750.
  • Any student participating in a study or intern program for 4 weeks or longer will be eligible for up to $2,500.
**Diversity Scholarships cannot be combined with the Concordia Study Abroad Grant**


  • Summer / Fall semester programs: April 1st
  • January and Spring semester programs: October 15th

Review and Notifications

Applications will be reviewed within two weeks of the deadline and students will be notified of decisions on their applications by April 1st or November 1st. Students who are awarded the scholarship will be required to complete all Post-Decision steps of their program before the scholarship will be awarded. Awards will be processed through the Financial Aid office.
