Program Description:

Have you ever wanted to see what the practice of pharmacy is like in another country. PHAR 517 is your opportunity to learn and experience pharmacy practice, education, and culture in Spain. You will have the opportunity to attend seminars in both English (relating to the education and practice of pharmacy in Spain), and in Spanish (relating to Spanish language and culture) at the prestigious CEU Universidad San Pablo in Madrid. In addition to learning about pharmacy practice and culture, you will be able to experience them first hand through selected pharmacy experience such as visiting local pharmacies, hospitals, and pharmaceutical companies, and cultural experience like taking a trip to Toledo, touring the Prado Museum, and attending a flamenco show.

Students who join this program will be required to register for the following course:

PHAR 517 - Global Pharmacy Experience: Spanish World of Pharmacy (2 credits)*
 
*Phar 517 is one course but has a three-part course sequence 
Part 1:  Pre-trip preparation - 0 credits
Part 2:  Study abroad in Spain trip – 0 credits
Part 3:  Post-trip debrief and final presentation – 2 credits

Part 2: Study abroad in Spain trip - June 14, 2018-June 29th, 2018

Leaders

This course is led by Dr. Robert Mueller of the School of Pharmacy. Dr. Mueller studied abroad in Spain and has traveled there many times then. He frequently instructs Medical Spanish for Pharmacy students, and has led student groups to Mexico and Belize. Please contact him for questions about this program. 
 

Requirements

  • This program is open to all students students enrolled in the Pharm D program.
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the institution.
  • Must register for the associated course. 
  • Must comply with all deadlines for applications, document submissions, meetings, deposits, and other payments.

Costs

  • Program Fees: $3,300*
  • Study Abroad Fee: $50
  • iNext Insurance Costs: $40
*This is an estimate. Final cost will be determined in early 2018.
