Program Description:
For all nursing students at the undergraduate and graduate level, here's an opportunity to not only travel to Mexico and learn about the Mexican culture but also to have an opportunity to learn about the Mexican healthcare clinics at three different locations surrounding Ensenada, Mexico in order to provide healthcare to people who greatly need it. After three days of work the students will be able to enjoy a day of sightseeing and shopping at a Mexican market. Throughout the trip, students will stay at a camp in dorm and will eat authentic Mexican food. It is not only an opportunity to experience another culture but an opportunity to serve those in need.

Students who join this program will be required to register for one of the following courses:

MSN 892: Global Perspectives- Mexico
NURS 452: Global Experience- Mexico

These courses are listed in the Spring 2019 semester.

Travel Dates

2019: March 16-22, 2019 (Spring Break)


This course is led by Dr. Jill Krell and Dr. Ginnie Vernon, professors of nursing. They have lead this program for many years, and are the best people to contact for questions about the program. 


  • Must be either a graduate or undergraduate nursing student. Non-nursing students in health-related majors may be considered on a case-by-case basis by the faculty leader.
  • Must sign up with Jill Krell before applying online.
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the institution.
  • Must register for one of the associated courses. 
  • Must comply with all deadlines for applications, document submissions, deposits and other payments.


  • Program Fees: $1,280*
  • Tuition (3 credits)**
  • Study Abroad Fee: $50
  • iNext Insurance Costs: $50
*The program fees are waived for accepted undergraduate students. 
**For full-time undergraduates, there is no additional charge for tuition as long as the 3-credit course does not put you over 18 credits for the Spring semester.


Included in the Program Fees are:
  • Round-trip airfare
  • Airport transfer and ground transportation
  • Luggage fees for up to 2 checked bags under 50 pounds each (only one checked bag is recommended)
  • Lodging
  • Some meals*
Not Included:
  • Fees associated with obtaining a valid passport or visa*
  • Personal expenses
