                                                         Diversity Abroad

Diversity Abroad Scholarship

 

The Diversity Abroad Scholarship is intended to assist underrepresented Concordians to experience one of the most exciting distictives of our university: Education Abroad.

Eligibility:

Essays will be considered based on the criteria shown on the attached rubric. Students are asked to write 250+ words about two prompts;

  1. Students must have at least sophomore standing (36 credits completed) by the start of the program;
  2. Must not be a Concordia University employee or dependent (those on a tuition waiver are ineligible), student workers are still encouraged to apply;
  3. Must be in good Academic and Conduct standing at the time of application;
  4. Must have a GPA of 2.0 or higher at the time of application;
  5. Must attend a study abroad program and earn at least 3 credits during the program (no audits);
  6. Must demonstrate unmet financial need via current FAFSA;
  7. Must apply by the appropriate deadline.
  • Students who have already received a study abroad grant or scholarship award during their undergraduate career at Concordia are not eligible for an additional scholarship. Students who received a grant or scholarship as an undergraduate and are now applying as graduate students will be considered as grant funding allows.
  • Students enrolled in the Mexico Nursing Global Ed. Course are not eligible for the scholarship.

Awards:

  • Undergraduates participating in a Global Ed. Course will be eligible for up to $1,000.
  • Graduates participating in a Global Ed. Course will be eligible for up to $1,000.
  • Any student participating in a study abroad program for 6 credits or more will be eligible for up to $2,500.
**Diversity Scholarships cannot be combined with the Concordia Study Abroad Scholarships**

Deadlines:

  • For programs running in Winterim 2020, Spring 2020, and Spring Break 2020 - Applications are due by 4:30 PM Central Time on October 15th, 2019. 
    For programs running in Summer 2019 and Fall 2019 - Applications are due by 4:30 PM Central Time on April 1st, 2019.

Review and Notifications

Applications will be reviewed within two weeks of submission and students will be notified of decisions on their applications by email. Students who are awarded the scholarship will be required to complete all Post-Decision steps of their program before the scholarship will be awarded. Awards will be processed through the Financial Aid office.
