Program Description:
China Pharmacy
Come and discover the "roots" of medicine in one of the oldest cultures in the world by traveling through Japan and China. Students will visit universities where scientists are doing research on the medicinal properties of plants that have been used for thousands of years to treat diseases that modern medicines have only in recent years addressed. Students will also visit hospitals and pharmacies where ancient traditional Chinese and Japanese medicines are being used alongside western medicines.

PHAR 699 - Independent Study: The Study of Culture and Medicinal Plants of East Asia*

Leaders

This course is led by Professor Dean Arneson of the School of Pharmacy and Professor Uvi Castillo. Professors Arneson and Castillo have both spent sigificant time in China and Japan, and have led numerous similar programs for several years, and are the best persons to contact with questions about this program. 
 

Requirements

  • This program is open to all students who have successfully completed the first year of the Pharm D program.
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the institution.
  • Must register for the associated course. 
  • Must comply with all deadlines for applications, document submissions, meetings, deposits, and other payments.

Costs

  • Program Fees: $3,800-4,000*
  • Study Abroad Fee: $50
  • iNext Insurance Costs: $50
*This is an estimate. Final cost will be determined in late 2018.
