Escape Wisconsin on a memorable Spring Break adventure to beautiful Costa Rica. This fun filled week has it all! From exploring the capital city of San Jose, being inspired by the biodiversity of the Cloud Forest and the wildlife of the Tarcoles River, witnessing the business impact of the tourism industry at the beach, discovering the impact of agriculture on a Coffee Plantation Tour, and embracing your Costa Rican culinary skills, we will see why Costa Rica is an attractive place for business. Not only see but do! We will take on a service project, visit several prominent companies, and, even, immerse ourselves in the culture with a tropical Latin dance or two. This trip is not one to miss!

Graduates-              MIB 570: International Study Abroad- Costa Rica (3 credits)
Undergraduates-   BCOM 380- Organizational Communication (3 credits)
 
These courses are listed in the Spring 2019 semester. For grad, this course is listed in Spring Term 2

Travel Dates

March 16th - 23rd, 2019*

*Students will participate in pre and post-trip coursework, and will travel to Costa Rica in the middle of that work. 

Leaders

This course is led by Professor Jim Ward of the Batterman School of Business Administration. Prof. Ward is an adjunct instructor who's primary work is as a professional in the business industry. Prof. Ward is a high-energy and greatly valued professor, and winner of the Business Professor of the Year (2018). Students will greatly benefit from his instruction and leadership during this trip. Please contact him with any questions about the program. 
 

Requirements

  • This program is open to all students, but is particularly geared toward graduate and undergraduate Business students. There are no pre-requisites.
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the institution.
  • Must register for one of the associated courses. 
  • Must comply with all deadlines for applications, document submissions, deposits and other payments.

Costs

  • Program Fees: $3,000*
  • Tuition (3 credits)**
  • Study Abroad Fee: $50
  • iNext Insurance Costs: $50
*This is a rough estimate. Final cost will be determined in late 2018. 
**For full-time traditional undergraduates, there is no additional charge for tuition as long as the 3-credit course does not put you over 18 credits for the Spring semester. Graduates will pay the standard per credit rate for the course.
