Spend a semester or a whole year in Cambridge, England studying Religion and the Liberal Arts at the cozy Westfield House of Theological Studies. Deeply spiritually and intellectually enriching, you will benefit from the intimate study center's small class sizes, and access to lectures and the library of the world-famous Cambridge University. This program is by far the most affordable way to study abroad in the UK, and it is the only Concordia-approved study abroad destination where students can complete religious studies courses.

About Westfield

Just across the street from the world-renown Cambridge University, Westfield House is the House of Theological Studies of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of England. Founded in 1962, Westfield House has long-standing exchange programs with LCMS seminaries and undergraduate universities.

While studying at Westfield House, you can take courses in Biblical Studies, Christian Theology, English, History, Philosophy and Religious Studies, Practical Theology and Scriptural Languages, all taught in the traditional British tutorial fashion. Students also have the opportunity to take lectures at Cambridge University.

Westfield House is ideal for students studying theology, philosophy, ministry or religion, but is also a great fit for English, history and liberal arts as well.

Whether you select Fall or Spring, there is a mid-semester break that allows you the opportunity to explore Europe, a quintessential part of the European study abroad experience!

Independent Study

Students who wish to focus on a subject not covered by the WH modules may be able to do this as an independent study, attending relevant lectures at the University of Cambridge and supervisions with either Westfield House faculty or an external academic with expertise in the field. If it is necessary to engage an external academic, there will be an additional fee.

*Not all classes are offered every term. Generally, the two-part classes will be offered sequentially from Fall to Spring. A minimum of three students is required to enroll for courses to be offered.

  • This program is open to all undergraduate students, but Church Work, Pre-Seminary, and Philosophy students are particularly encouraged to join!
  • Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the institution. 
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA 
  • Must comply with all deadlines for applications, document submissions, deposits and other payments.

Average Costs

  • Tuition: Standard Concordia UG tuition 
  • Lodging, Internet and Activity fee: $2,200
  • Study Abroad Fee: $50
  • Insurance: $200
